The event will also serve as the launch of Bendigo Health’s Aboriginal children’s dental service and includes a smoking ceremony, children’s song and the hanging of artwork on the dental service wall.
A free barbecue will also be held at the Bendigo Police Station between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Thursday, offering opportunities for community members to learn about pathways into a career with Victoria Police.
On Friday The Atrium at St John of God hospital will host a lunch and Aboriginal art exhibition between 11.30am and 1.30pm.
The lunch will feature guest speaker Stephanie Armstrong from the Weenthunga Health Network.
“That’s a group that primarily mentors young Aboriginal girls and women and encourages them if they want to go into a health career,” Bendigo NAIDOC Committee member Anne Conway said.
“We’ve had some wonderful outcomes with Weenthunga already.”
Entry to that event is by gold coin donation.
