Stars for the Borough and Victoria Country last summer, Shaun Knott and Richard Tibbett will play even greater roles.
In the lead-up to his second season at the club, Knott will be assistant coach.
Leader of the Borough’s attack for several years, Tibbett takes on added responsbility as bowling coach.
Both are excited about the challenges ahead.
Recruited to the Hawks after a successful playing stint in Tasmania, Knott takes on a coaching role for the first time.
Semi-finalists in last season’s first XI action, Eaglehawk retains the nucleus of a talented line-up.
“There are some really talented youngsters ready to make their mark,” Knott said.
Whether it’s with ball or bat, Knott will again look to have an impact.
He and senior coach David Rosaia will play key roles in terms of training and match-day tactics, along with first XI captain Jason Abbott.
A Victorian Country representative at the 2015 Australian championships in Bendigo, Knott said he would draw on the experience from their campaign.
“To be playing for Victoria Country was a great learning curve,” Knott said.
“There’s some different ideas that can be brought to the club.”
Tibbett made his first XI debut with the Borough as an 18-year-old.
Now 25, the pace bowler is keen to pass on more tips to bowlers, whether they be first XI regulars or younger clubmates.
“Coaching is something I have thought about for a while, so I am rapt to be given this opportunity by the club.”
Exciting bowling prospects at the club include Jordan Shelton, Bailey O’Connor, Sam and Josh Williams.
In first XI action, Tibbett will team with an attack that includes Cory Jacobs, Knott and Cam McGlashan.
“As a bowling cartel we set plans and goals and work hard to support each other,” Tibbett said.
A key batsman and first XI premiership player, Json Abbott said the advice and guidance Knott and Tibbett provide would be a huge plus for the club.
Eaglehawk’s pre-season campaign starts August 10 at Canterbury Park.
