SES operations officer Malcolm Ross said the outcome was fantastic.
"It's fantastic news, not only for Chris himself but the family," he said.
Mr Ross said 17 volunteers from Bendigo, Rochester, Kyabram, Heathcote, Rushworth and Marong formed part of the team that searched for Chris.
"When you get a positive outcome like this it is a real morale boost for the volunteers and the efforts that they put in as well," he said.
UPDATE, 11.40am:
THE family of Chris Lieutier say they are relieved after their son was found safe and sound after being lost in the Knowsley State Forest for about 19 hours.
The 35-year-old was reunited with his family at a police command post about 9.30am on Monday after an Air Wing spotted him 300 metres off a bush track.
Chris' father Yvan Lieutier said his son was in good spirits and he was grateful for everyone who helped with the search.
"It was quite an emotional night last night and yesterday - we are just happy for a great result," he said.
"Chris is a loving, young man. We want to thank everyone (who helped with the search) - the SES and police have been behind us all day and all night."
Mr Lieutier said the family had been visiting the Knowsley State Forest for more than decade. He said Chris had been riding a quad bike when he went missing about 2.30pm on Sunday.
"Some people dropped off some chooks and the dogs went for the chooks. We were chasing our dogs and turned our back and (Chris) was gone," he said.
“It just takes a minute, not even a minute. We kept looking for about an hour and after that we said, "no, we'd better get the authorities involved."
Mr Lieutier said he and his wife Dianne continued searching until about 8.30pm along with police, SES, DEPI and an Air Wing. He said the family got little sleep on Sunday night.
"All sorts of things go through your mind," he said.
Mr Lieutier said his son was doing well.
"He will probably be hungry – he is always pretty hungry," he said.
