The Mean Machine needed a four-goal to none last quarter to seal the four points and stay in front of second-placed Pyramid Hill.
The 13.12 (90) to 6.12 (48) scoreline wasn’t a true reflection of the tightness of the game.
“We were able to kick away in the end, but it was a pretty good contest,’’ Bridgewater coach Andy Collins said.
“Newbridge has shown some improved form the past month and they were able to sustain good effort for three quarters and they were more than competitive.
“The difference between the two teams in the end was that our boys were able to maintain their effort over the four quarters.”
Collins kicked three goals in a best on ground performance, while fellow former AFL player Dan Connors was also instrumental in the win.
Tristin and Daniel Nalder were solid in defence for the Mean Machine.
Lachlan Ford, Ash Grant and Nathan Bacon were best for the Maroons, while Austin Fithall was dangerous in attack with three goals.
The Maroons are two games and 23 per cent outside of the top five and have little room for error if they are to pinch a finals berth. They play YCW, BL-Serpentine, Inglewood and Pyramid Hill in their final four games.
