A world champion in Jujitsu and Ne-Waza, Marty has racked up multiple European and French titles.
He is on his first trip to Australia.
The 27-year-old was invited to give tips at the Adam Street dojo by Judo Bendigo president Neville Sharpe.
The Bendigo stopover was on the way to a week-long training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Although his forte is at Jujitsu and Brazilian Jujitsu, Marty has also fought on the judo mat.
There are more than 770,000 registered judo players in France.
“There’s a lot of similarities between the three,” he said.
“A major difference is that there is kicking in jujitsu, but not in judo.”
Marty was world champion in Ne-Waza in 2010.
Ne-Waza is a form of groundwork in judo.
He was Jujitsu world champion in 2007 and been third at three other campaigns.
Marty has dominated Jujitsu in his native country.
The past six French titles in the martial art have been won by Marty.
At the Bendigo training session, a lot of Marty’s focus was on giving tips on grips and tactical moves.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to teach other players.
“There’s a lot of different moves and techniques used in judo, jujitsu and Ne-Waza.”
For Judo Bendigo clubmates Sancia Donegan-Carlile and Louis Mott it was a taste of what to expect when the national camp starts on Saturday.
Another of Bendigo’s stars, Bryan Jolly from Campbells Forest will also be working on various throws and more under the gaze of Marty and other coaches.
Long-time judo exponent and club president, Neville Sharpe said Marty’s appearance was a great coup.
“He is a fantastic coach and has so much experience to draw on.
“It’s not every training session that you have a world champion in two martial arts share some of their insights.”
It’s a big year ahead for Marty as he prepares for the World, French and European championship bouts.
