Penaluna’s return to the Bendigo line-up was confirmed at Thursday’s announcement at the Long Gully IGA.
She has spent the past two months playing for SEABL rival Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence.
National commitments mean the CoE season is now over.
Penaluna jumped at the chance to return to the Bendigo Lady Braves where her husband, Jonathan Goodman is coach.
“A return to Bendigo had been talked about as the season went on,” Penaluna said.
“Being able to play for Bendigo will help a lot leading into the Women’s National Basketball League season.”
The Lady Braves are fourth on the SEABL south conference ladder.
A serious knee injury restricted the Australian Opals representative to just one game with the Lady Braves and a second knee reconstruction in the 2013-14 season.
“I have been able to train at 100 per cent,” she said.
Penaluna will take to the Sandringham court for this Saturday night’s match against the Sabres.
Commitments with the Australian Gems squad mean Goodman will be away from coaching the Lady Braves throughout July.
“As a club we are rapt to have Elyse on court with us,” Goodman said.
“Elyse adds height and experience. Her rebounding ability will be a huge plus in attack and defence.”
While Goodman is away, Bernie Harrower will coach the Lady Braves.
Harrower’s record includes back-to-back WNBL titles with Bendigo Spirit.
