The qualification tournament will be held in Bendigo between March 20 and 25 next year.
It will begin with the ITTF Oceania Championships at Bendigo South East College stadium on March 20-24.
From that tournament the six best male and female players will make up the 12 participants of the Olympic qualifying day.
A team of three men and three women will then be selected to go to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The event continues the trend that has seen international table tennis be played in Bendigo over the last three years.
Bendigo beat out Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea and Christchurch in New Zealand for hosting honours.
City of Greater Bendigo major events manager Terry Karamaloudis said the venue was a key aspect of negotiations.
“The ITTF has been here for three years and the back of the strength of the relationship, the uniqueness of the venue and the overall Bendigo experience (helped secure) this event,” he said.
“The international events we have stage here have a good track record from teh snooker to the world masters atheltics and the Commonwelath Youth Games in 2004.
“Local associations also have a great history of getting involved in supporting and staging events.
“It also comes down to good old-fashion customer service. We do it well ad events like coming here.”
ITTF development co-ordinator Michael Brown said Ulumbarra allowed for better presentation.
“We were discussing with the City of Greater Bendigo on how to bring the event here and do something different.
“This allows for better presentation and theatrical aspects with lighting.
“There will be 12 matches throughout the (Olympic qualifying) day and every match matters.”
Mr Brown said hosting international championships in Bendigo in the past had helped build table tennis’ profile.
“It is difficult to break into the Melbourne or Sydney market but the profile is growing thanks our strong links with Asia,” he said.
“Over the last three years in Bendigo we have seen a steady progression that will hopefully continue to grow.”
