Hopefully our elected councillors have been provided with full details of demolition costs to assist with their decision making at tonight's council meeting.
I believe there are many parts of the proposed "Taj Mahal", as it has become known, that can be re-arranged or deleted before the extreme action of demolishing a usable building is taken.
The Save the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre group has proposed logical plans for a $400,000 modernisation of the existing centre.
Those plans have widespread support throughout that community and within Bendigo council boundaries.
Councillors who vote in favour of any plan or action to demolish the existing centre will, I believe, be long remembered for an unnecessary act of vandalism resulting in a loss of support should they offer themselves for re-election.
