Council says it will soon raise concerns over the reliability of services with Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan.
Cr Bronwen Machin said that during last year’s construction of the Regional Rail Link, the reliability of the train connections to Melbourne was significantly compromised.
“Our community had been promised that once the works were finished we would enjoy greater frequency, reduced travelling time and improved reliability,” said Cr Machin.
“Instead we have no extra services and the express train is only two minutes faster in the new timetable.
“While any increase in the speed of services is appreciated, it still doesn't match the speed or convenience of when services to our region were first provided."
Cr Machin said the council looked forward to hearing from Ms Allan on how services would be improved under the new Regional Rail Network.
“With a large percentage of residents working or studying in Melbourne or Bendigo, effective train services are critical to liveability and local economy of our shire,” she said.
