About 80 people attended a fundraiser on Saturday in Campbell's Creek to raise money to help Nepalese affected by the disaster.
In April, Nepal was hit by an earthquake with aftershocks continuing for more than 48 hours. The death toll is more than 10,000 people while many more remain homeless.
The earthquake was the most powerful disaster to strike Nepal since 1934.
Organiser John Thomas said his wife Ginny Tan came up with the idea for the fundraiser four weeks ago.
"It was something that struck her because of the terrible disaster that struck Nepal," he said.
"It seemed like something we could do to make a difference. Nepal is a relatively poor country and Australia is a relatively wealthy nation.
"It's not hard for us to go out and be entertained and enjoy a meal to help a country that has been devastated.
The fundraiser included a Nepalese dinner, raffle and a range of entertainment - including the Sweet Justice - Community Women's Choir, The Suitcases, traditional Nepalese dancing and students from Castlemaine Secondary College.
Mr Thomas said he was impressed by the turnout. He said while an overall total was yet to be calculated, the event would raise about $3000.
"It was great to see so many people showing goodwill for the cause. It was obviously something that touched a lot people's hearts," he said.
"The fact that it was so well support was just terrific. We were blown away by the community support.
"It was a real community effort. Everyone played their role and helped out."
Mr Thomas said funds would be donated to the Nepalese Society of Victoria, who would distribute them among charities working in Nepal.
In a similar effort, Bendigo's Nepalese community is also raising funds for the cause.
In April a candlelight vigil was held at the Bendigo War Memorial, with more than 50 people turning out.
