The White Hills resident taught secondary school students in Maryborough before she started experiencing headaches.
Cancer Council Victoria advocacy manager Dinah Arndt said Ms Tuohey thought she was just overtired.
"In order to wake up she had to set no less than five alarms," she said.
"Other staff noticed things as well – the way she would zone out in conversation, or have a delayed reaction.
"But they put it down to personal problems.
"One day, she failed to show up to work and awoke with a black eye and no memory of how she got it.
"Her GP sent her for scans and they found a tumour, which was quickly removed last August."
Ms Tuohey underwent several rounds of chemotherapy.
She moved back to Bendigo with her parents and her daughter Madison.
The good news is she has had her third MRI since completing chemo and it’s come up all clear.
Ms Tuohey said she joined the Forgotten Cancers Project to raise awareness of them. For more information, visit www.forgottencancers.com.au
