THE letter from Colin Carrington published recently regarding parking at Ulumbarra is another example of how unrealistic many of our citizens are.

There have been many complaints over the years from shoppers that they are unable to park right outside the shop they want to go to.
Furthermore, our council even has the temerity to expect them to pay for the privilege of parking their car a bit further away.
Now it seems the same issues will arise with our wonderful new Ulumbarra Theatre.
I've had the pleasure of visiting many theatres, art galleries, and so on in a number of Australian and overseas cities, and I couldn't count the number of kilometres I've had to walk from the nearest available parking space.
Sometimes it has required a taxi from the car to the theatre and back again after the show.
I've been to Ulumbarra a number of times already, at various times of the day and evening, including last Friday for the opening night of NED.
Certainly there have been times when I've had to walk a reasonable distance, but at no time have I even considered giving up and going home.
I'll take the opportunity of a brief comment on my pleasure in being at the NED opening night.
Sitting in our state-of-the-art theatre, watching and enjoying an excellent production, was as good an experience as I've had anywhere else, including theatres in London.
