The Raw Arts Awards and Exhibition was opened by City of Greater Bendigo mayor Peter Cox.
More than 80 entries from local youth aged between 11 and 25 entered the awards, which began in 1997.
The awards the City of Greater Bendigo provides four $1000 cash scholarships and four $250 highly commended prizes across four arts disciplines – visual arts, literature, digital media and performing arts.
Zebulun Lea won the performing arts scholarship while Anthony Clacy was highly commended.
The Literature Award was won by Shantara Johnstone with Darcey Alexander highly commended.
A Digital Media Prize was awarded to Michael Bowley. Fynn Michlin was highly commended.
Vanessa Pieper won the Visual Arts Award while Connor Edwards was highly commended.
Cr Cox said the Raw Arts Awards and Scholarships are an important initiative designed to showcase and foster the talents and artistic pursuits of young people in the region.
"The awards support young people and provide opportunities for a diverse and vibrant local arts and cultural program," he said.
"We also wanted to provide the opportunity for young people to profile their work, receive public and financial recognition and support further studies in their chosen arts field.
“It’s clear to me that we have some very talented emerging artists in Greater Bendigo.
“I hope the awards encourage everyone who entered and the winners to continue to excel in their chosen art medium."
The Raw Arts Exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm at Dudley House until Sunday.
