I RESPOND to Colin Carrington’s letter regarding parking at Ulumbarra Theatre ("Parking sure to be an issue" in Thursday's Bendigo Advertiser) and would like to point out that there are 613 car parking spaces located within a 300-metre radius, 1093 spaces within a 400-metre radius and 1463 spaces within a 500-metre radius of Ulumbarra Theatre.

There are also an additional 154 car parking spaces within 120 metres of the theatre entrance at Tom Flood Sports Centre.
As the vast majority of events held at Ulumbarra take place in the evenings and at weekends, this means there is an abundance of car parking spaces located in close proximity.
Bendigo is after all a growing and vibrant city, and we can no longer expect to park right out the front of where we are going.
I would also like to clarify the City of Greater Bendigo’s $400,000 investment in NED the musical.
While the City did back the production of NED, the actual cost to the community is near on zero with ticket sales (almost every performance has been to a full house), sponsorships and philanthropic donations taken into account.
In addition, the benefits to our local economy of undertaking this ground-breaking production and of gaining significant national exposure have attracted hundreds of visitors to Bendigo to experience both NED and our unique new theatre.
Bendigo has a strong and growing national profile as a major regional centre for arts and culture.
By supporting innovative productions such as NED and ongoing major exhibitions at Bendigo Art Gallery, Bendigo continues to attract further interest and visitation from throughout Australia and beyond.
