Bendigo is hosting this year's conference which focuses on "leveraging community assets for economic gain".
City of Greater Bendigo economic development manager Brian Gould said the delegates visited sites which demonstrated the way in which assets could benefit both the economy and the community, including the Edward Street multistorey car park and Ulumbarra Theatre.
"When you're talking about economic development people say 'well how did you get to have a multistorey car park in a regional centre?' and part of that is the capacity to attract a core tenant," he said.
"With Ulumbarra you have an instance where you have state, federal and local governments and a school saying 'we need an auditorium' and a community saying 'we need a theatre', so rather than trying to have two you have one."
