The Run 100 Foundation is hosting their inaugural Road to Cure Fun Run, with organisers encouraging more members of the community to get behind the event.
The fundraising organisation set the target of raising about $25,000, which will be put toward ovarian cancer research, support and advocacy.
The event will include a 12km run which will begin at 10am, the 6km run or walk will begin at 10.15am and the 2.4km kids run kicks-off at 11am.
Harem Scarem’s Emily Eliades is one of many business owners in the region to back the fun run.
Eliades said through her hair salon business she had seen a lot of people who had been affected by some form of cancer.
She said this event would help raise much needed awareness of ovarian cancer.
“Sometimes a lot of women who have cancer can be really lonely and so at events like this you find out that you do have so much support,” Eliades said.
Run 100 Foundation founder and committee member Jeff Brennan said it wasn’t too late for people to register for the run, with registrations closing at 9.30am on Sunday.
He said if participants registered online before Sunday they would go in the running to win a $500 mountain bike courtesy of Giant Bendigo.
Registrations cost $25 for adults to enter and $15 for anyone under the age of 18.
