French, who had been one of Bendigo’s best, collided with a Melbourne player and as a pre-caution the game was called off.
Bendigo Thunder coach Craig Riddiford said French had scans on her neck and back on Saturday night and was cleared of any injury.
“The tackle went wrong, it was just one of those unfortunate things,” he said.
“She was having a ripper game up until she got injured as well.
“She will probably be out for a week or so.”
Despite the game being called off, Bendigo Thunder had already put the game beyond doubt, defeating Melbourne University by 38-points at Dower Park.
The final score was 7.8(50) to 2.0(12).
Emily Munro kicked two goals, while captain Emma Grant again showed her class, named in Thunder's best.
The win was the Thunder's third of the Victorian Women's Football League division one season.
