The Cure Brain Cancer Foundation initiative gained public attention after television personality Carrie Bickmore spoke about her late husband and his fight with brain cancer during her Logies speech.
Educational leader Rachel Pettifer said Bickmore inspired staff to host the fundraiser.
"I thought it was really brave and inspiring for her to get up there and talk about her personal life. It was really moving," Mrs Pettifer said.

Mrs Pettifer said a staff member at the centre also had a friend who was having treatment for brain cancer.
She said the event raised $240, with all children taking part.
"We had one girl in our preschool room who got a gold coin out of her own moneybox," Mrs Pettifer said.
"Her mum told her about how people are sick and she said she wanted to help the sick people."
Mrs Pettifer said Beanies for Brain Cancer was one of the first fundraisers the centre had held.
"It was a really good opportunity for the kids to develop an awareness and for us to explain to them that not everyone is well and there are people out there that are sick," she said.
"We had a great response from parents. They were really happy and all keen to participate."
