The two contracted companies are based in Melbourne and supply the company with up to 150 workers, predominantly in Hazeldene's boning facility.
Ms Chesters had made her concerns public about the number of 417 and 457 visa workers at Hazeldene's, prompting Tuesday night's meeting.
She said it was pleasing to hear about the company's initiatives in hiring local workers.
"They prioritise employing locals on contracts, and recruit many people locally to fill vacancies," Ms Chesters said.
"They also have seven apprentices and 720 locals employed."
The company took her on a tour of the site during the two-hour meeting, where she met workers, including one worker who had been at the site for several years.
Despite the positive meeting, Ms Chesters said she was still concerned about "the unknowns" surrounding the operations of the contracted companies, which operate independently of Hazeldene's.
"If the contractors are engaging in providing ABNs or making workers sole traders, then that is likely to be where the exploitation and confusion occurs," she said.
"I understand Hazeldene's are doing their own investigating around this and make regular checks.
"There's no way of knowing at this stage though."
Ms Chesters said the full picture of how the contractors operate would become clearer should she be able to meet with them.
She said Hazeldene's had made an offer to take on the workers directly.
"I think that demonstrates the company's willingness to employ people directly," Ms Chesters said.
"Although, none of the workers took up their offer."
Media reports have stated the federal government will introduce a dedicated taskforce to investigate issues in the 417 Working Holiday Visa system.
The announcement came before the start of a Senate Inquiry into Australia's temporary work visa program, to be launched by Labor and the Greens.
