The gala evening at the All Seasons Resort on October 6 will be highlighted by the launch of Darren Rodda’s book 134 Not Out which encompasses the entire playing history of the Jets.
Two best-of teams will also be announced at the event, one from the top cricketers to play with the club since it joined the Bendigo District Cricket Association in 1984 and the other from previous seasons in the Emu Valley Cricket Association.
Past premiership players at senior and junior level will attend the event, with at least 250 people expected.
“It’s going to be a massive night for the club,” Strathfieldsaye president Brent Yates said.
“We’re announcing our best elevens for the BDCA and EVCA. Kerry O’Keefe is going to be the main guest speaker on the night, also the big part is the book launch of 134 Not Out.”
Rodda pored over records kept in Melbourne libraries to research the book and the club’s 656 players.
“That has been a massive task put together by Darren Rodda, which we didn’t even realise we were 134 years old,” Yates said.
“It’s actually going to detail every single player that’s every played even one game with the club.”
Live music from Triple J Unearthed artist Taylor Sheridan will be another feature of the evening.
Invited present players are asked to RSVP immediately for the event, while those with a connection to the club who would like to attend the function can email strathfieldsaye@club.cricketvictoria.com.au
