Bridegroom: Adam Lancaster
Wedding date: January 24, 2015
The meeting
Adam and I worked together at La Porchetta in Bendigo. He was the pizza maker and I was the waitress, very romantic! He used to make me late-night pizzas, the way to a girl’s heart.
The proposal
Adam proposed on our five-year anniversary. He surprised me with a weekend away down at the Mornington Peninsula. We went to the back beach after dinner to watch the sunset, he was so nervous. But I was always going to say yes!
The wedding day
Our ceremony was held at Alowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen. Andrew Redman performed the ceremony under the shade of the wisteria archway, much to the delight of our guests as it was a very hot day. Our dog Mitch was a special part of our ceremony and was the perfect guest. Everyone then enjoyed drinks at the gardens for a few hours while we had our photos taken.
Zonzo at the Train Trak Winery was the venue for our reception, attended by 120 of our close family and friends.
The food was incredible, showcasing the best the Yarra Valley has to offer. We shared pizzas and slow-cooked lamb, followed by roaming mini desserts. Our guests had lots of fun posing in our DIY photobooth and danced the night away under the fairylights.
The dress
I had my heart set on a dress from Anna Campbell, but couldn’t decide which of their beautiful dresses I wanted. I went back several times with my mum and bridesmaids, tried on nearly every dress in the shop but still couldn’t decide.
They were showcasing their new bridal collection and I went along by myself once Wednesday morning. And there she was, my Harper dress. I got goosebumps when I tried it on and knew that this was the one! I loved every single moment I wore it, it was so beautiful and comfortable. The hand-beaded belt detail was softened by the delicate lace and it was perfect. My bridemaids’ dresses were from Alannah Hill and For Her and For Him online boutique. Adam’s suit was a custom-made navy suit from Oscar Hunt and the boys all wore bowties from Mrs Bow Tie.
The cake
Our cake was provided by Zonzo and was a three-tier cheesecake. We prefer savoury to sweet so it was fitting that our cake was made of cheese!
The photographer
Theo from Loco Photography was amazing. He made us feel comfortable and we had heaps of fun with him. He provided us with one of our favourite moments of the day when he took us out of the reception for 10 minutes at sunset to take some photos. It was just Adam and I and we got to enjoy a few moments alone on the best day of our lives. We saw all our friends and family from a distance, laughing and having fun, and it was very special.
The honeymoon
We stayed in a private villa in Seminyak, Bali, for a week of pampering.
