A mystery fan nominated the band when The Au Review called for bands to support Margera on his Balls Deep in Australian tour.
"We got a phone call last week from a promoter we know saying we had the support slot. We had no idea about it," guitarist Lee Chatterton said.
"The zine had put out a call for bands to support Bam and we got nominated, shortlisted and chosen.
"We still don't know who nominated us. It was none of our immediate family or friends. It must be someone who likes our Facebook page."
Abreact are familiar with support popular acts.
The band supported Amity Afflication in 2013, the same year it was unearthed for the Groovin the Moo festival.
We still don't know how nominated us. It was none of our immediate family or friends.
- Lee Chatterton
But lately the band has been focused on writing with plans to put an album together by the end of 2015.
"We've been a little bit quiet while we get ready for the new album," Chatterton said.
"We have a whole batch of new songs but it's not easy with two of us (living) in Bendigo, one in Wallan and one in Castlemaine.
"We play about once a month at the moment but with limited time to work on new stuff we are staying away from too many bookings."
Abreact reformed in 2008 after originally starting as a group of mates in high school.
In 2013 the group launched its debut album Entities.
“We didn’t work on it full time, it was all weeknights after work,” bass player Chris Hayden said.
“The first time (it was on radio) none of us heard it, we read it on the internet.”
Bam Margera is a professional skaterboarder who also starred in television series Jackass as well as his own show Viva La Bam.
Margera announced the supports for his shows via a video on the internet.
"The video of him reading the supports out was pretty surreal," Chatterton said.
"It's crazy that we used to watch him on TV and now we're supporting him."
But despite the star factor, Chatterton insist it is just another gig for Abreact.
"It's nothing too different, We have to make sure we pick the songs that work the best,' he said.
"Like what we normally do, we just have to go out there and do the best we can.
"It's no different. It's a bit exciting but every gig is. This just has an extra factor (attached) to it."
Abreact support Bam Magera and Earth Rocker at The Barwon Club in Moorabool Street, Geelong on Thursday, May 14.
