LA Trobe University graduates have marked a personal milestone in their lives.
Hundreds of people gathered at Ulumbarra on Thursday for the second day of graduations.
The morning ceremony included graduates from the facility of Arts, Social Science and Commerce, while the afternoon session centered on the Science, Health and Engineering facility.
Alex Paine graduated with a Bachelor of Outdoor Education. He said he was the first member of his family to accomplish a tertiary education and the graduation was a milestone.
"I think my parents are pretty chuffed. It means I have successfully completed the course. It's pretty special, I guess," he said.
Mr Paine, who is originally from Melbourne, said La Trobe University's Bendigo campus was renowned for its outdoor education course.
"It's the oldest running outdoor education course in the country and it's got the reputation of being the top tier education degree. I was lucky to have it only two hours away," he said.
It means I have successfully completed the course. It's pretty special, I guess.

Mr Paine will now start a masters degree in education, with plans to become a teacher.
Leonie Jepson-Harding graduated with a masters of education. She works as a teacher at Kyabram P-12 College and previously completed a diploma of education.
Mrs Jepson-Harding said she did her masters over three years, while balancing family and work.
"(Graduation) is a lovely validation of the hard work I have been through," she said.
"It's a wonderful ceremony and it's great to see my thesis supervisors here and to look at the academics and think I am now one of them myself."
Graduation ceremonies will continue on Friday.
