Bridegroom: Jack Bickley
Wedding date: February 7, 2015
The meeting
Jack and I casually met at a mutual friend’s birthday. A few days passed until we added each other on Facebook. One thing led to the next and numbers were exchanged, although months passed before our relationship was official.
The proposal
The proposal was quite the surprise. Jack proved how much he knew me by proposing out of the blue, and somewhere where I would have least expected it. At first I thought he was joking, until I saw the ring!
The wedding day
Jack and I were married at Saint Martin’s Church Muskerry at 2pm, with 110 of our closest family and friends in attendance. Jack and his groomsmen arrived in three Mack Superliner trucks and the bride and bridesmaids in a Ford GT and two Monaros. After the ceremony the reception was held in the function room at the Bendigo Pottery. Because it was a February wedding we used fake flowers from The Eternal Vase, consisiting of white lilies, tulips and carnations.
The dress
After trying on numerous dresses, I finally found my dress at Ferrari in Ballarat. The dress was a full-length A-frame Ivory gown, with a lace bodice, a partial open back and V neckline. As my dress only contained lace, I chose a veil with a beaded edging. I was lucky enough to have traditional parents who chose to purchase my dress, and my grandmother purchased my veil as a token gift.
The cake
For our wedding Jack and I had a three-tier mud cake consisting of chocolate, white chocolate and raspberry and white choc flavours. The cake was made by the talented Zoe Grant of “G’Day Cupcake – Cakes of all occasions by Zoe”. Zoe was our first and only choice, as a few years ago she had created my 18th birthday cake. Our cake was rustic-inspired to match our theme, and not to mention was delicious.
The photographer
Our day was photographed by the lovely Christian and Hayley Barkla of Whites + Woods Creative. The talented duo captured our day in a laid-back, natural approach focusing on the special moments. Our photos consisted of a country atmosphere and were captured at different locations. Our favourite location was an abandoned farm.
The honeymoon
After our wedding we casually honeymooned in Sorrento and Hepburn. When the time is right we hope to head to Hawaii and America for a second honeymoon.
