Yesterday, Minister for Roads Terry Mulder along with Parliamentary secretary for Transport Edward O’Donohue announced the well-known, high-incident bridge would receive a $100,000 boost to improve the safety of the road.
Upgrades to the Castlemaine intersection will include the installation of electronic warning signals and signage for a 1.35km detour route for high vehicles.
Northern Victoria Region MP Damian Drum said the bridge intersection was infamous for road incidents with four accidents occurring within a five month period last year.
Work on the bridge is set to begin soon with completion expected by the end of the year.
