The young star from the Golden Square-based Hit Factory fought well on the Gold Coast.
Scanlon used his height and reach to land lots of jabs and counter right-hands in his opening bout againjst Ben Cameron-Hands in the under-17 under-48kg division.
In the final, Scanlon faced Joshua Fitzpatrick, a dual national champion from NSW.
"It was a very close fight," said trainer Danniel Burton.
"Tully was landing the bigger shots, but Fitzpatrick who had just recently competed in China showed his experience and kept Tully at range and scored with a few points toward the end of the bout.
"It was a great experience for Tully who has another year in the junior age division."
Hit Factory's Jocelyn Amiet fought in the elite women's 54kg class.
Amiet took on Hayley Finlayson from Queensland in the semi-final.
"It was a contrast of styles," Burton said.
"Jocelyn had a hard time trapping her at first but when she could she hit her with lots of big scoring shots, a couple of times Jocelyn looked liked she could have stopped her opponent but ran out of steam near the finish.
"It was an exciting match. Tully and Joeclyn know the areas to work on and will bounce back."
Meanwhile, Team Bendigo's Dino Rafaeles and Brad Morgan fought at the nationals.
Rafaeles' campaign in the 52kg class was ended in a 2-1 loss to Simeon Geberat from WA.
Morgan fought in the 69kg division and was beaten by ACT's Alex Cooper.
