Leah Sertori has taken over from outgoing CEO Patrick Falconer.
Ms Sertori is the current chair of the Bendigo Chapter of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a graduate of Melbourne Business School and part owns small business Regional Management Group.
Bendigo Business Council chair Michael Fleming said Ms Sertori was chosen from a field of highly qualified candidates.
"The decision to appoint a chief executive is a key element of our strategy to grow the business council and amplify our influence," Mr Fleming said.
Mr Fleming thanked the service of Mr Falconer - who will stay on as sponsorship and membership executive.
"Mr Falconer's contribution over the past four years delivered a legacy of increased membership, strong relationships with sponsors and positive engagement with our local community," he said.
"Ms Sertori will join Mr Falconer and Jacinta Mangan at Dudley House - strengthening the support we can offer our members."
The Bendigo Business Council recently outlined its goals for the coming five years, with key goals including growing the membership and making an active contribution to government policy.
"Our approach will strengthen the contribution of the Bendigo Business Council in the region and our ability to add value for members," he said.
"I am delighted Leah Sertori has taken on the leadership of the business council. Ms Sertori’s expertise and approach are the right fit with the board’s future direction."
Ms Sertori was the former chief executive of Sustainable Regional Australia and Melbourne Cares. Most recently, Ms Sertori worked as a business broker to leverage the economic benefits aligned to the new Bendigo Hospital.
