Members of the legislative council were welcomed by City of Greater Bendigo mayor Alec Sandner before today’s sitting of parliament at Bendigo Town Hall.
More than 100 parliamentary and government officials will be directly involved with the Bendigo Regional Sitting.
Members of the public are invited to attend, which reflects a typical sitting day in the Legislative Council.
Issues relevant to the Bendigo region and proposed legislation will be debated, reports and petitions will be tabled, and ministers will be questioned about government policy.
It is only the second time Bendigo has hosted parliament, after the Legislative Assembly met in the city in 2001.
Parliament will sit from 9.30am to 6.30pm.
