"My friends were edging me on to do it even though I have never once entered a competition," she said.
"I've painted a couple of murals but I've never won, so this is really good exposure."
Ms Pollard said she aimed to bringing a Townsville flavour into her artwork.
"It has the sunrise over Castle Hill, the greens in the ocean and the vibrant colours of the landscape," she said.
"I really drew inspiration from the colours of Townsville rather than the locations."
Ms Pollard said she got the call up to Bendigo GTM after a bad day at work.
"I cannot believe this is me winning something. It's an unusual life journey. I was excited to travel to a different place and explore," she said.
"I went to the Post Office Gallery which is a small space but has some amazing artwork in there.
"There's art everywhere (in Bendigo) which is so great because it's not something we really have in Townsville.
"I'm so glad I got to see part of Bendigo's art (culture). I am going to come back for sure to see the rest of it."
