The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Parks Victoria and CFA advise that planned burning will be carried out in the following areas on Sunday, May 3, weather conditions permitting:

Talbot – Wattle Gully Road: 34 hectare fuel reduction burn, 6km south east of Talbot.
Rushworth – Mortimer Road: 41 hectare fuel reduction burn, 2km south east of Rushworth.
Lauriston – Darcy Lane: 181 hectare fuel reduction burn, in Lauriston.
Smoke may also be visible from burn offs from private property across the region.
Smoke may be visible in the following locations as well as from surrounding areas:
- Talbot and Ballarat-Maryborough Road
- Rushworth
- Lauriston, Malmsbury, Taradale, Kyneton, Denver and the Calder Highway
DELWP, Parks Victoria and CFA are doing more planned burning to reduce the risk of bushfire to people, property and communities.
You may be affected by smoke from these planned burns.
People who experience smoke around their homes should close their windows and doors to prevent it from entering.
Motorists are encouraged to obey all traffic signs and instructions from fire crews near the burns. Road travel may be hazardous due to low visibility.
Access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites in areas close to, or in burn areas, may be restricted.
People who experience symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure should seek medical advice or call a nurse on 1300 606 024.
