If it wasn’t for her team-mates telling her the game was a milestone match, it would have been business as usual for Wilson.
The 29-year-old has always been a team player and has never put herself ahead of others during her tenure with the Braves.
She hasn’t had as much court time as her more talked about team-mates, but that hasn’t fazed her.
Wilson said the reason she had been able to play so many games was because she loves basketball.
“I do it for the fun of it,” she said.
“If I wasn’t enjoying it I would have stopped a while ago.
“I have loved been a part of the team.
“Plus, I have always had a competitive streak in me and that has motivated me to keep playing, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.”
The quietly-spoken basketballer began her SEABL career at Nunawading more than 10 years ago.
She travelled to and from her home town of Leongatha each weak to play.
Then after accepting a university offer in Bendigo, she made the switch to central Victoria and played with the Lady Braves.
Her long-time coach Bernie Harrower said Wilson came into the team that was in the middle of a re-build.
“She is a tremendous player and has been a great player to coach over the years," Harrower said.
“She has had a great journey, which started more than 10 years ago with me.
“Andrea was with me at the Lady Braves and with me when we started the Bendigo Sprit, she is one of just three original players from the first team to still be playing.
“She hasn’t played a lot of game time, but she has always had a dedication to the team and has always been a popular member of the playing group.”
During her time with the Braves, she was also a part of the Braves’ championships wins in 2006 and 2007.
“I have enjoyed being a part of the program and getting to know everyone,” Wilson said.
“Those two championships stick out in my mind as highlights from over the years.”
Harrower described Wilson as a defensive specialist, who has continued to work hard over the journey.
“She always plays the perfect role and never complains about the amount of court time she gets,” he said.
“Andrea is a great team player and a player coaches love to coach.
“She has remained loyal and is quite a popular person among the girls.
“I can’t speak highly enough of her. It has been a pleasure to work with her.”
Bendigo will play Sandringham at the Bendigo Stadium on Saturday at 6pm.
