Athletes will also score points for their club in the race for the Keith Macdonald trophy.
The winter club championship will be decided on points awarded at four club invitations, the Glen Allen road race and AB cross-country titles.
Round one in the Keith Macdonald trophy is this Saturday's running of University's invitation.
Other club invitations are South Bendigo on May 23, Eaglehawk on June 20, Bendigo Harriers on July 18.
The Keith Huddle Memorial will be run on August 8, with the series finale being the Glen Allen Memorial on August 22.
A member at Bendigo Harriers Athletics Club since 1964-65, Keith Macdonald said running played a big part in his and his family's life.
"The friendships I have made through athletics have lasted many years," Macdonald said.
"An award like this is an enormous honour, but also incredibly humbling."
Macdonald praised Harriers' clubmate Rossi Evans for the club championship concept.
"It's all about increasing participation at every club run.
"You may not be the quickest runner, but this is a chance to contribute for your club."
Winter season co-ordinator and long-time athlete Paul Bennett said aiming for personal best times was a challenge for every competitor, no matter their age or level or experience.
Bennett first competed with Bendigo Harriers in 1967 and is still enjoy the challenge of training and racing when he can.
"Cross-country numbers are growing, especially female participation."
