With $5000 in prize money up for grabs, Lawson claimed the Harvey Norman PGA Trainee Pro-Am on Monday, beating out more than 90 players, which included 57 PGA trainees.
The young gun shot an impressive round of 9 under par 62, winning the competition by five shots.
Dave Ruffell who played with Lawson said it was unbelievable to watch.
“He was just so long off the tee,” he said.
Steve Hardy won the amateur section on the day.
He shot his best round at Neangar Park with 47 stableford points.
Ruffell Jewellers sponsored first place, with both Lawson and Hardy winning a watch each.
At the end of the day, PGA trainee Kevin Smith and Mark Ashton also won $200 each for the Mercedes-Bens shoot out, and the Evolution copy, print, solutions driver long bomb contest.
Neangar Park head professional Erik Hendrix said the course was in amazing condition and that the day was a great success.
“The event is going from strength to strength and we can’t wait for the event to come around next year,” he said.
