I don't disagree that it is a great thing for Bendigo and there is no doubt it was long overdue.
But to showcase the opening when it is not even finished I believe was a bad decision.
It's quite ironic to think that if this was a business it would not have got the green light from the council or WorkSafe.
So with things still not finished and building material scattered everywhere, not to mention $25 million spent on the theatre, surely a vacuum was in the budget to give the place a clean?
The foyer even had nails left on the carpet and seriously, even the stage was left filthy.
But my biggest concern is this - let's just say that the Madison is on, the theatre has a show on, The Capital has a show on and just to cause more chaos we will throw in a footy match at the QEO, and oh yeah, don't forget all the eating places in View Street.
I ask the council: where do I park?
You never actually plan things through to the end.
Our Greater Bendigo council can never forge ahead like Ballarat or Geelong because our council cannot plan things.
It was bad enough even on Sunday to get a park for the open day.
So Bendigo people, start saving your taxi money - or we might all need a pushbike?
