IN reply to Shirley Mainstone's letter of April 18 ("Therapy pools already exist").
The council knows the rate at which Bendigo will expand over the next 20 years , which will require more of these pools to meet the demand, costing ratepayers far more money to build them at that point than now.
More people will need to be employed creating jobs for Bendigo because of this.
As far as travelling to the facility goes... try driving 15km in Melbourne to get anywhere. Bendigo can be travelled from end to end in 15 minutes, so travel time is not a problem.
Everyone needs to consider the fact that we will never see a handout like this again for a project in Bendigo for years. Stop looking a gift horse in the mouth, minority objectors. The majority of people want this project to go ahead as a 50-metre pool.
And by the way, I'd be more than happy to travel to a new facility if I needed to help stay healthy during our winter months.
