The rematch of last season's grand finalists was another great battle in all thirds of the court at Superior Roofing Oval in Atkins Street, North Bendigo.
The Colbinabbin Grasshoppers skipped to a seven-goal lead by quarter-time.
North Bendigo fought back strongly to be within three goals at the end of the second quarter.
It was goal-for-goal throughout the third term.
Colbainbbin led by a goal at the start of the final quarter.
The reigning premier, North Bendigo won the term, 14-11, and the contest, 43-41 to sit on top of the ladder.
The margin was even closer in the Heathcote and Elmore match at Barrack Reserve.
Playing at home, Heathcote won 27-26.
White Hills beat Huntly by 14 goals, and Lockington-Bamawm United won by eight on Mount Pleasant's court at Toolleen.
Leitchville-Gunbower had the bye.
In the Loddon Valley competition, Calivil United and Mitiamo have achieved a hat-trick of wins.
The Calivil United Demons fired up on Pyramid Hill’s court to win 45-18.
Mitiamo was too strong for Newbridge.
The Superoos won 50-27 at Riverside Park.
Bridgewater powered to a 20-goal victory at Inglewood.
The match ended in a 42-22 win for the red and white.
Bears Lagoon-Serpentine celebrated an upset win against YCW.
After being defeated in the opening two rounds, BL-Serpentine teamed brilliantly on its home court to beat the Eagles, 27-22.
Marong had the bye and will face the ladder-leading Calivil United in next Sunday’s play.
