I see no reason why they cannot go back to doing what the elderly were appreciated for and that is craft.
Not many people may realise that many of the Bendigo Easter parade floats were decorated by elderly who worked in the nursing homes, who made the flowers from recycled materials.
What is going on that they are no longer considered worthy to contribute?
Many of the elderly also used to love being pushed through the parades and waving to people.
Some of the hospital money and other fundraising money was collected by a gold coin donation thrown into the sheets as they walked along the parade route.
I don't know about you but I get sick of watching flashing lights and breathing smog in a parade.
I would rather see a physical contribution.
