Bendigo’s Melissa Ryan is apprentice coach of the team, which went down 22-26 to Western Australia in its final preliminary match on Friday.
Victoria led by a goal at the last break, but scored just once in the fourth quarter.
They were beaten by Queensland early in the week in a tough physical encounter, but got their campaign back on track with a stirring 16-goal victory over last year’s runner-up NSW on Wednesday.
The Vics finished the round-robin series in third place and now face a re-match against NSW in their semi-final on Saturday.
The winner goes through to Sunday’s gold medal game.
