THE man accused of leaving four pipe bombs in the Bendigo CBD in December will have his charges reduced in number and severity when he faces court next month.
Timothy Ridge, 24, originally faced eight charges, including unlawfully and maliciously causing an explosion that had the potential to end life, manufacturing explosive devices, reckless endangerment of life and causing criminal damage.
He faced the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where the prosecution said the charges had been withdrawn and replaced with five new charges.
Ridge now faces four charges of reckless conduct endangering persons and one charge of causing criminal damage.
The prosecution could not proceed with the charges on Wednesday, because the informant was in Shepparton.
Ridge will instead reappear at the court on May 13, where the defence said he intends to plead guilty to the five new charges.
The five charges are in relation to the exploded pipe bombs in front of the Golden Vine Hotel, in a letterbox on King Street and outside Bendigo Library on December 20.
The bombs exploded between 9.30pm and 10pm on the Saturday night.
A fourth pipe bomb was found near Bar 238 in Chancery Lane without detonating.
Ridge had his bail conditions extended, including that he not attend licenced premises.
