The exhibition by Maree Santilla will be opened by Neil Fettling, director of the La Trobe Art Institute, this Wednesday from 6pm.  

Desiring the Undesirable explores the contradictions inherent in the human imagining, collection and display of the animal body. 

By substituting the museum diorama for sites of human domestic habitat, the exhibition creates sites for contemplation of our own biases and ambivalence towards animals.

Also showing at the VAC is an exhibition by New York based artist Denise Green. Form, Subjectivity, Paradox includes paintings, collaged paper cut-outs and photographs of dams in the landscape surrounding Bendigo, juxtaposed with abstract drawings.
