Hume and Iser was named Trade Store of the Year for 2015 at the annual Hardware Association of Victoria and Tasmania awards ceremony recently.
Managing director Stephen Iser said the business was thrilled yet surprised to win the award.
"We were up against some great other stores so to win is really a wonderful acknowledgement of the work we put in to provide our trade customers with the right stock, at the right price and delivered on time and in full," Mr Iser said.
Mr Iser said Hume and Iser prided itself on the high level of service it provided to its business customers.
The business has serviced the Bendigo community for more than 135 years and is family-owned.
He said being independent provided the business with the flexibility to provide the needs of its customers.
"I think being independent and understanding what the trade business requires helps us," he said.
Mr Iser also commended the quality of his staff and their ability to understand the needs of the customer.
"They understand how the builders work and can best help them with what they need," he said.
Home Timber and Hardware regional manager for Victoria and Tasmania Andrew Toomey said the annual awards recognised retailers are helping pave the way for the future of the state's hardware sector.
"Hume and Iser is a major supplier to local tradies and we are excited they've won this prestigious award," he said.
"We look forward to seeing the business continue to prosper in the years ahead."
Hume and Iser is located at 35 to 37 Charleston Road.
