Bendigo's senior line-up will be desperate to hit back from a disastrous Easter Saturday performance.
A four-nil loss to Moreland Zebras on its home pitch meant Bendigo City tumbled to sixth on the NPL1 west conference ladder.
Just how the Greg Thomas-coached team responds will be eagerly awaited by fans when the clash kicks off at 3pm.
Greater emphasis on defensive actions and teamwork will be a key to Bendigo's play against Melbourne.
Bendigo has struck 10 goals, but conceded 13.
Melbourne Victory is second in the east conference.
A three-nil win against Richmond last round improved Victory's record to four wins and one draw.
The day's play at Epsom-Huntly kicks off with the under-20s at 1pm.
After a one-all draw with Moreland Zebras last round, Bendigo City is fired up for another big challenge.
"We are up against the cream of the crop of Victoria's 16-17 year old players," said Bendigo City under-20s coach Nathan Claridge.
A talented Bendigo line-up has racked up three wins, one draw and two losses.
"Being third on the ladder is a great effort.
"It was disappointing not to take all points against the Zebras, but they kept on attacking and were rewarded with a late equaliser."
After playing in the seniors last week, Finn Huzzey is back to bolster the under-20s defence.
"Finn and Marcus Ryan are likely to play as a central defenders.
"A lot of the boys have improved with every game," Claridge said.
Those who have impressed in Bendigo's run include Alex Caldow and Charlie McCormick.
Captain Joe Williams will again play a key role in defence.
