McGrath is in the Brisbane Lions team to play Collingwood in Saturday night's match at the Gabba.
He was named in a forward pocket.
Taken at pick No.73 in last year's AFL national draft, McGrath impressed the Lions coaching staff and fans with his play in the NAB Challenge.
His second and third efforts will be a key factor in Brisbane's attack and midfield.
Despite a series of injuries in 2013 and '14, McGrath never "gave up" on his bid to become an AFL footballer.
The Lions have four new players in their team to tackle Collingwood.
Dayne Beams will take on his former club, while Allen Christensen and Mitch Robinson line up for the Lions after being traded from Geelong and Carlton.
