BENDIGO Divers Club's push for new equipment at Bendigo Aquatic Centre has gained support from Federal Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters.
As she watched the club's latest training session, Chesters said the ability to host major events was compromised because of a lack of key equipment.
The club is keen to gain dual boards for synchro diving and a bubble machine to be in the water for dives off the 10m platform.
"Having that equipment will be a huge plus in Bendigo hosting major diving events, but also help club members in their training," Chesters said.
"Because it does not have a high number of committee members or participation - the club's fund-raising capacity is limited.
"The cost could be covered by all levels of government - Federal, State and Local.
"It's all about working together.
"Diving is one of the most-watched sports during the Olympics."
Cr Rod Fyffe is keen to support the project.
"Through our support we are encouraging those already competing and those who may want to join.
"Improved facilities will mean these divers and their parents will not have to travel to Melbourne as often for training.
"Every champion puts Bendigo on the map," Cr Fyffe said.
