The National Premier League Victoria team has just appointed an official committee, all of which are aiming to see Bendigo City become a viable and successful club.
Corey Scoble is the president of Bendigo City, while Ben Pengelly has been named as the vice-president.
Brendan Williams was named the secretary, Melanie Shanahan the treasurer and the committee will include Arj Perera, Travis St Clair and Peter Anderson.
Pengelly said one of the club’s main focuses this season was to continue to involve the community.
“You can’t be a successful sporting club in Bendigo without community involvement,” he said.
“From a managers perspective we are going to set ourselves some short term goals over the next couple of days.
“We are going to reach out to sponsors and we are going to reach out to the community to make sure BCFC is viable and is successful.”
Pengelly said it was vital for Bendigo City’s momentum to continue to roll on.
“What we want is for Bendigo to embrace Bendigo City and for people to understand that this is our inaugural year and we need community participation and we need community involvement.”
On Tuesday, Mawsons jumped on board as one of the club’s newest sponsors.
Scoble said it was great to see the business throw its support behind the club.
“We are chasing sponsors,” he said.
“Elite clubs in Bendigo have always really struggled, so we are wanting to get the community involved to make sure we can survive in years to come.”
We are going to reach out to the community to make sure BCFC is viable and is successful.
- Ben Pengelly
After five rounds the club's senior side is sitting in top spot on the National Premier League Victoria West ladder.
They defeated Nunawading City 3-2 at the weekend.
"It has been fantastic," Scoble said.
"The junior results have also been great, which has been a shining light; even our under-20 team has been doing well."
This weekend the club will be playing its first home game in four weeks.
Bendigo City will take on the Moreland Zebras at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The seniors will play at 3pm and the under-20 team will kick-off at 1pm.
