McGuire is the club's number one ticket holder and on Tuesday morning gave Castlemaine a shout-out on his radio show, Triple M's Hot Breaksfast.
"Their netball team has unfortunately lost a few players to injury and one of the other Bendigo clubs has knocked off one of their prized recruits," he said.
"What we need is, is a goal keeper or a couple of defenders that have either played state league level or the equivalent standard.
"If you are a bit of a gun or hung up the bib a little early this is a great opportunity."
Castlemaine's A-grade coach Correne Cooper said the Magpies had full squads across all grades, but days out from the opening round was still on the hunt for experienced defenders.
"We still have a good squad, but we are exploring a range of different possibilities," she said.
Cooper said the club was offering compensation for travel. Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Katrina Walters on 0448 250 456.
Castlemaine's first BFNL game is against Maryborough on Good Friday.
