Yesterday, the family held it's third family reunion. The first was in 1977 and the second was in 2000.
Four generations were represented with family members aged between just a few months old to 95 years.
More than 60 fathers, mothers, grandparents, children, aunts and uncles were at the Shamrock Hotel for the event.
The Vlaeminck family originated from the small Belgium village of Waarmaarde.
John Baptiste was the first family member to arrive in Bendigo. He owned Bell Vue Hotel in Golden Gully and was also a miner.
John Baptiste's four brothers, sister and nephew followed him to Australia during 1854 and 1856.
In 1858, the family bought land in Emu Creek and began producing wine which was exhibited in Melbourne, Ballarat and Sydney.
When Phylloxera disease hit the Bendigo region in the 1890s, the family separated to different parts of Australia. Family members who moved to northern New South Wales changed their name to Fleming.
Today 17 family members with the original Vlaeminck name remain in Bendigo.
"Not many families could say they have been a part of Bendigo history for so long," Jeff Vlaeminck said.
The family has already picked a date for the next reunion which will be in just four years' time.
"We don't want to wait so long," Mr Vlaeminck said.
"Even if we have it in 10 years, the kids who are five or 10 will be in their 20s."
