Bede and Mary Gibson were first asked to open up their unique garden by Gardens Australia a few years ago and decided to exhibit sculptures as well to attract more interest. 

Now they host a sculpture exhibition and open garden every six months. 

There are 15 sculptors exhibiting their work this year, up from four the first year.

Most of them come from the Goldfields region and several others are from interstate.

The sculptures are for sale and fetch prices between $25 and $7000.

The driving passion behind the three-acre garden is Mary Gibson, and husband Bede says he helps her realise her vision. 

The garden features a rose display, Australian section, protea garden, rockery, vegetable patch and orchard. 

Mrs Gibson said a few people asked if she would design their gardens but she said she wasn't a professional garden designer.

"There’s a lot of little things like pine cones in containers that they get ideas from to enhance the garden," she said.

"I’ve got a succulent garden in an old plate rack, they all seem to take photographs of that too.

"It is a lot of work but then we love doing it.

"I prefer that than doing a lot of other things. I’m happy out in the garden I find it quite relaxing."

"It's my life choice it's what I’ve decided to do." 

The Mica Grange Autumn Sculpture Exhibition and Open Garden is open each weekend from 11am to 5pm until April 19.

It is closed over Easter. Entry is $5 and afternoon tea is provided.
