The 11-year-old has just become the state Junior Sportsman at the recent Association of Australian Radio Controlled Model Cars Club state titles in Bendigo.

Sanders won all six of his qualifying rounds and then went on to win each of the finals events to claim the championship.

Daniel Abbas was second and Lewis Hymas was in third position.

His father, Michael, said the title was a great reward for all the hard work Jye had put in over the past few months.

“Jye only took it up in September" he said. 

"He got a second-hand car and has never looked back” he said.

“It was very exciting, we were all very proud of him.”

Michael said the Bendigo On-Road Controlled Car Club had shown his son a lot of support.

“They have been tremendous,” he said.

“They have shown him all these different lines and have helped his car to become faster, which has been good.”

About 150 people were in Bendigo for the major event which included 15 different clubs all bidding to be the fastest car.  

There were five different titles up for grabs.
