The rock group released their fourth album, which landed them their first UK number one.
Cavalier Youth showcased the band's strong sound thanks to the efforts of producer Neil Avron.
"Working with a renowned producer like Neil bought so much to the table,' bass player Matt Barnes said.
"It was like having a sixth member of the band helping us sort out any minor issues.
"He is someone who has worked with bands like Aerosmith and Fall Out Boy, so he kept us on our toes."
In April the band will tour Australia with Groovin the Moo.
"We have heard some really good things about Groovin the Moo," Barnes said.
"One of our best mates was a lighting technician with The Temper Trap and said it was a great festival.
"We've been asking him all these questions about it and are really excited to be heading to different places."
Despite You Me At Six having played in Australia seven times before, the group has never ventured out of major cities.
"Normally it's a standard tour where we stay in the same hotel, drink at the same bar and visit the same cities," Barnes said.
"So going out to these more out there places is a great excuse to travel around Australia.
"We have always had just a week and a half period (in Australia) before heading to the next country. Three weeks will be the longest we have ever been (in the country) for. Hopefully we get a chance to explore it."
You Me At Six formed 10 years ago and have had its current line up for about eight years.
"We were all mates from day one and have been doing music as a living for six years," Barnes said.
"Before that we had s**t part time jobs. Now we joke about the whole musician thing.
"At rehearsal if we say go to an F'Sharp and one person has to stop and think about it we all just shout 'we are professional musicians!' It's something we like to joke about."
